Switch after quota exhaustion
Keep the project and continue an urgent task with your own BetterToken API key. The switching method depends on the current Claude Code configuration.
Claude Code API for terminal workflows
The Claude Code client is installed separately. Connect it to the BetterToken Anthropic-compatible API and continue the current task when your subscription quota is temporarily exhausted.
BetterToken provides access to its own API. It is not an official Anthropic API key, Claude.ai, Claude Pro, Claude Max, or a shared account.
Test credit is API balance for checking the connection and model calls, not withdrawable cash. Eligibility, amount, validity, available models, and campaign rules are shown during registration, in Workspace, or in the current campaign terms.
After switching, Claude Code remains the client while model calls are billed from your BetterToken balance according to actual usage.

Primary use case
You do not have to wait for the next quota period or move to another fixed plan. Connect BetterToken using the current Claude Code guide and pay only for new API calls.
Keep the project and continue an urgent task with your own BetterToken API key. The switching method depends on the current Claude Code configuration.
Usage depends on the model, context size, response length, repeated calls, and caching rules. Check the current pricing page before topping up.
This BetterToken API flow has no required subscription. User-funded paid balance does not reset automatically each month; test and promotional balances may have separate rules.
API is not always cheaper than a subscription for consistently high usage. Compare your expected usage with current prices before topping up.
Three different scenarios
BetterToken connects a model API to the Claude Code client. It does not replace the official web interface or turn an API key into a subscription.
| What you need | Suitable route | What to understand |
|---|---|---|
| Continue a coding task in the terminal | Claude Code through BetterToken API | Install Claude Code separately, then use your BetterToken API key and the current setup guide. |
| Model calls from an application, script, or agent | Claude API | A general API scenario, not a Claude Code configuration page. |
| Use the official Claude web interface | Claude.ai and Anthropic subscriptions | BetterToken does not sell Claude.ai, Claude Pro, Claude Max, or shared accounts. |
Use only the current Claude Code guide for Base URL, variables, key group, and model ID. This page does not freeze those dynamic settings.
First task
The complete configuration stays in Docs, where the Base URL, variables, key group, and model selection remain current.
Open Workspace, register your own BetterToken account, and create an API key. Do not send the key in chat or put it in a public repository.
Install Claude Code separately and use the current parameters from the BetterToken guide. Do not copy settings from old articles or another tool.
Choose a task with limited context and a clear result. After the response, check token usage and the charge in Workspace.
Token-based billing
Claude Code may read files, analyze context, and make several calls during one task. Cost therefore follows actual usage under the selected model rules, not the number of messages.
